Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe that the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired Word of God and without mistakes as originally written. We believe it is the complete revelation of God’s will and is the only rule for salvation, life and practice.

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and sovereign over creation, deserving of all worship and glory.

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all believers who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. The Church exists to glorify God by worshiping Him, edifying believers through biblical teaching, and fulfilling the Great Commission by sharing the gospel with the world. The local church is a community of baptized believers, committed to worship, teaching, fellowship, and
making disciples.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We believe baptism by immersion is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in Christ, death to sin, and resurrection to new life. The Lord’s Supper is a sacred
ordinance for baptized believers, signifying Christ’s atoning sacrifice and uniting the church in fellowship with Him.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and will return to reign
in glory.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the eternal Spirit of God, fully divine and co-equal with the Father and the Son. He was active in creation, inspired the authors of Scripture, and continues His work of convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He indwells all believers, guiding, comforting, and sanctifying them for the glory of God and the fulfillment of His purposes.

Sexual Purity

God desires His children to lead pure lives of holiness. The Bible teaches that the appropriate place for sexual expression is in the context of a marriage relationship. The biblical description of marriage is one man and one woman in a lifelong commitment. While upholding God’s standard of holiness, GSM strongly affirms God’s love and redemptive power in the individual who chooses to follow Him. Our desire is to encourage individuals to trust in Jesus and turn away from any impure lifestyle to continue to bring Him honor and glory in every arena of our lives.
