The Mission is NOT Canceled

The Mission is NOT Canceled!!

We are living in a time where so many things in our lives have been canceled - meetings, school, appointments, trips, etc. I would guarantee that you have canceled something or something you planned has been canceled over the last 3-4 weeks.

One thing that has not been canceled is our call to make disciples. The mission is NOT canceled. The mission may have changed, but it is surely not canceled. Your circle of influence may have moved, your opportunities to invest may look different, the method of communication has likely changed, but we should still be actively making disciples.

I have been given a fantastic opportunity to spend more time with my wife and daughter. We have been able to have deeper conversations, pray together more and discuss Biblical truths on a level that was previously difficult to get to because of distractions and busyness. What a blessing to have this time to invest in my family!

My discipleship group is now meeting on Zoom, just like many of you. It is not ideal, but it is better than nothing. It is no time to give up or get frustrated, but instead, embrace the change before us and stay focused on the mission. I have found that many of the people I am talking to are more open to spiritual conversations. Priorities have been shifted for many people and they have the time to take account of what is really important to them and some are seeing the frailty of what their hopes were in.

My challenge to you today is to stay focused on our mission - make disciples. Join me in praying for revival for our nation. Revival starts with me, with you. Let’s remember who is in control and seek him first. My former pastor, David Landrith, used to say, “there is never an emergency meeting of the Trinity. God is ruling the world with his feet up.” Our God is never caught off guard and he isn’t struggling to make things work. He is the Rock, Fortress, Ever Present Help, Great I Am - let’s point people to Him!
